AboveNet Management

Leeland Pavey,
Chief Operations Officer, AboveNet Communications UK Ltd.

Leeland is Chief Operations Officer for AboveNet in Europe and has over 20 years of experience in telecoms.

Leeland has been with AboveNet since its inception in 2000. Having joined the company as Director of Operations, he was accountable for the design and construction of AboveNet’s infrastructure in the UK and Ireland.

Now as chief operations officer, Leeland’s responsibilities cover the entire installation, repair and maintenance functions throughout Europe. During his career Leeland has worked for a number of telecommunications companies, gaining valuable experience in a number of challenging roles.

Immediately prior to joining AboveNet, Leeland held the position of Senior National Manager at Cable and Wireless where he directed and managed the UK infrastructure team before moving on to national, commercial and residential network implementation.

Leeland holds a degree in management studies.

Alan Berryman,
Vice President Sales & Marketing Europe, AboveNet Communications UK Ltd.

Alan Berryman is Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Europe with more than 20 years of telecommunications experience. Alan joined the company in 2004 to head up the carrier & ISP sales departments and in 2007 was appointed Sales Director with a focus of driving the UK sales strategy. Today, as Vice President of Sales and Marketing Alan is responsible for driving profitable business across Europe within the carrier, indirect & enterprise divisions, Customer Service and Marketing.

Prior to joining AboveNet, Alan held the positions of account director & sales manager at Easynet, KPN Qwest and British Telecommunications Plc. In these positions, Alan’s key objectives were to drive new revenues in new markets and develop leading edge products and technologies for strategic customers.

Alan has also held senior positions at British Telecommunications Plc within its operations and systems engineering departments.

Jonathan Medcalf,
Vice President and UK General Counsel, AboveNet Communications UK Ltd.

Jonathan is Vice President and UK General Counsel for AboveNet Europe with over 12 years of telecoms related legal experience.

Jonathan joined AboveNet in November 2006 as the UK company’s General Counsel and Vice President. His team is responsible for handling all legal aspects of the company’s business in the UK and Europe.

Jonathan’s experience in telecommunications is derived from a variety of roles at Cable & Wireless, including a three year stint in Hong Kong as the company’s sole Counsel for the Asia Pacific region, and at COLT Telecom. Previously, he worked at the London law firm Cameron Markby Hewitt as a litigation assistant.

Jonathan is a solicitor and holds a practicing certificate issued by the Law Society of England and Wales. After reading law at the University of Southampton, he originally trained as a barrister and was called to the Bar in November 1994.

Brett Johnson,
Vice President of Business Development, AboveNet Communications UK Ltd

Brett is Vice President Business Development for AboveNet Europe and has over 20 years of industry experience.

Brett has been with AboveNet since 2002. Having joined the company as UK Sales Director Brett successfully grew the customer base and revenue every year. In March 2008 Brett was promoted to Vice President of Business Development. He brings to this role his extensive industry experience combined with commercial understanding and the ability to develop innovative solutions.

In his current role Brett is responsible for identifying new opportunities and markets and is spearheading the expansion of AboveNet into Europe as well as enhancements to the UK network.

Prior to joining AboveNet Brett was at Cable & Wireless where he headed up a number of sales and business development functions. His previous experience also includes senior roles at a number of equipment manufactures and distribution organisations.

Steven Potts,
Vice President Technology Europe, AboveNet Communications UK Ltd

Steven is Vice President of Technology for Europe at AboveNet and has over 13 years of experience in the industry.

Steven has been with the Company since 2000, previously working for the wholly acquired AboveNet UK joint venture set up in 1999. Having joined as a solutions architect, Steven has been working with customers for many years to provide high quality connectivity solutions contributing to the Company’s successful growth. As VP of Technology Steven has responsibility for the network infrastructure, solutions, product and IT groups in Europe as well as equipment vendor relationships.

Steven holds a BSc. Honours Degree in Information Systems from Leeds University and previously held positions at Genisys Group, an enterprise focussed systems integrator and MicroWarehouse UK, now part of DSG Retail Ltd.

Kellie Whitham,
Human Resources Director, AboveNet Communications UK Ltd

Kellie is the Human Resources Director at AboveNet for Europe and has over 14 years of human resources experience.

Kellie joined AboveNet in 2002, having previously worked in an HR consulting capacity with British Airports Authority at Heathrow Airport. Kellie has played an integral part in the reorganisation and streamlining of AboveNet in the UK and has been a key contributor to the success of the business over the years.
As human resources director, Kellie is responsible for all areas of the HR function; including recruitment, compensation and benefits, reward, training and development and HR processes and procedures.

Kellie’s HR career includes positions at Internet Network Services (INS), Cable & Wireless and other roles in commerce and industry. Kellie is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Peter Murray,
Vice President of Finance, AboveNet Communications UK Ltd

Peter is the Vice President Finance for AboveNet Europe and has had nearly 30 years of experience in a variety of different roles across a range of sectors including telecoms, FMCG retail, magazine publishing, language learning, brewing and engineering. Peter has been involved with AboveNet since 2005 and is now fully responsible for all its UK and European finance related functions including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Peter is also responsible for Business Continuity Planning and Business Process Management activities in UK and Europe.

Prior to joining AboveNet, Peter held Directorships at Centaur Publishing Ltd and Linguaphone PLC as well as running his own successful management consultancy business.
